HOW I WENT FROM SACRIFICING MY HEALTH & FRIENDSHIPS WHILE WORKING 12-HOUR DAYS TO GETTING PAID TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
The year was 2006.
My early days of living the “laptop lifestyle”.
I had embraced the lifestyle of the online entrepreneur.
I was making money online, had a home in La Jolla, California – one of the nicest and wealthiest beaches in the world, and working for myself.
But as great as this was.
There was a problem.
In order to work with my team of subcontractors in India, I had to stay awake ALL night – and sleep ALL day.
Because my team was on the other side of the world, I sacrificed my lifestyle and spent an entire winter in complete darkness.
Because people aren’t meant to live this way.
My health suffered from not getting enough sunlight
I was stressed out because I didn’t spend time with friends and family
I gained weight because I ate quick (and unhealthy) meal.
It sucked.
My life was crap.
Yes, I was making money.
And, yes, I was a “CEO”.
But, what I was doing wasn’t any different than working a 9-5.
In fact, it was worse.
It wasn’t the lifestyle I was attracted to.
You know what I’m talking about.
The lifestyle you see where you’re working on the beach, making money in your sleep, and “working” because you want to – not because you HAVE to.
There’s no point of living on the beach if you can’t enjoy it, right?
It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I remembered what my first mentor, Joel Salatin said to me:
“IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE A VACATION FROM YOUR JOB, YOU SHOULD NEVER COME BACK.”
Too many people dream of taking a vacation.
Only to realize, they’ll have to come back to living a 9-5.
But what if you’re entire life felt like a vacation?
Wouldn’t that be A LOT better?
The beauty of having an online business is you don’t have to work from home.
This realization hit me hard.
I decided to NOT make any more sacrifices….

Initiating Process Group

The Initiating Process Group consists of those processes performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project by obtaining authorization to start the project or phase.
Within the Initiating processes, the initial scope is defined and initial financial resources are committed.
Internal and external stakeholders who will interact and influence the overall outcome of the project are identified.
If not already assigned, the project manager will be selected.
This information is captured in the project charter and stakeholder register.
When the project charter is approved, the project becomes officially authorized.
Although the project management team may help write the project charter, this standard assumes that business case assessment, approval, and funding are handled externally to the project boundaries .
A project boundary is defined as the point in time at which the start or completion of the project or a project phase is authorized. The key purpose of this Process Group is to align the stakeholders’ expectations with the project’s purpose, give them visibility about the scope and objectives, show how their participation in the project and it associated phases can ensure that their expectations are achieved.
These processes help set the vision of the project-what is needed to be accomplished.
Planning Process Group

The Planning Process Group consists of those processes performed to establish the total scope of the effort, define and refine the objectives, and develop the course of action required to attain those objectives.
The Planning processes develop the project management plan and the project documents that will be used to carry out the project.
The complex nature of project management may require the use of repeated feedback loops for additional analysis.
As more project information or characteristics are gathered and understood, additional planning will likely be required.
Significant changes occurring throughout the project life cycle trigger a need to revisit one or more of the planning processes and possibly some of the initiating processes.
This progressive detailing of the project management plan is called progressive elaboration, indicating that planning and documentation are iterative and ongoing activities.
The key benefit of this Process Group is to delineate the strategy and tactics as well as the course of action or path to successfully complete the project or phase.
When the Planning Process Group is well managed, it is much easier to get stakeholder buy-in and engagement. These processes express how this will be done, setting the route to the desired objective.
